3 Easy Steps to Get Traffic to Your Squidoo Lens

I recently had a question from a member over at the Video Series. She had me create a lens for her back around the holidays. She hasn’t had much luck with the lens and thought maybe it just wasn’t a very popular item. She wanted to know if she should just forget that lens and start some new ones, or if there was something she should do to make that one work.

Here’s what I told her (with keywords removed) This is a great plan for any lens you create so while it’s great for her, it’s also great for you!

What makes you say the [lens topic]  isn’t a very desirable item? There are 1900 people every month searching for the keyword.   ~ it’s a popular item.

The problem is you haven’t built backlinks for the lens so it is not showing up in google. If it doesn’t show up in google how does anyone even know it exists?

Here’s what I suggest you do.

1. Submit your lensmaster RSS feed to RSS directories (you’ll only have to do this once if you’re working from one account.) http://internetmarketingformommies.com/how-to-create-backlinks-so-google-will-find-your-lens/

2. Submit short posts to the free ad blogs (make sure you use the full keyword you’re targeting when you link back to your lens.) http://internetmarketingformommies.com/using-free-ad-blogs-for-building-links/

3. Find some blogs you enjoy reading that have the commentluv plugin installed. http://internetmarketingformommies.com/some-interesting-things-i-found-about-commentluv/ and then read the blog regularly and leave comments regularly. Make sure you find 5 or 10 that you like so you can spread your links out over various domain names. ~ put your lens url in the comment field that says url ~ and it will pull up your lens with the commentluv giving you an anchor text link back to your lens.

This should be enough to get you ranking for the keywords we use for the Christmas cash lenses. Once you’ve done that for the lens you have, then create a new lens and do the same thing.

Or you can do a bunch of lenses at one time, and then do all the linking at one time (batch processing) I find especially with commenting that it’s much easier to do it as I build one lens at a time.

I’ve realized one big problem people have is this: There’s so many things you could do, that you get overwhelmed and  don’t start doing anything.

These three steps will get you a good start. Don’t worry about the millions of ways there are to build backlinks ~ focus on these three strategies. Complete the steps and then move on to the next lens. It will take some time for them to build their ranking and you don’t want to sit around just watching and wondering why it’s not happening faster, because then you’ll be waiting around for the next one too. If you just keep moving you’ll have lenses ranking regularly as you’re working on other things.  It will become a continuous circle, so you have new things ranking all the time.

   Hi, sometimes people get lazy because they are tired after building few lens. I believe this post will give some insight so that they will be motivated to move a bit few steps forward by implementing few friendly backlinking.
