I Don’t Get Much Traffic to My Lens

This is another statement I hear quite often. It seems people want a LOT of traffic. Tons of traffic. Let me tell you right now, right here ~ if you’ve chosen a very targeted product ~ created a lens with a very targeted keyword you do NOT need a LOT of traffic.

Let’s take the Ironman Inversion Table lens of mine as an example.

You probably know I created it as I was creating the Squidoo Christmas Cash Blueprint as an example of the process.  It is currently ranking on page one for a variety of related keywords ~ I don’t believe it is #1 for any of them. It’s #5 for the targeted keyword.

Last month it got 133 unique visits, 151 pageviews.

I had 43 people click through to the product page on Amazon

I made 7 sales of Ironman inversion tables and 1 sale of another brand of inversion table.

I do not consider 133 uniques in a month a lot of traffic. At all.

But…

People are coming to my site looking for what I’ve got. I’m giving it to them. They are clicking and they are buying.

You can do it too.

I’m not doing anything special or magical. I’m following the exact steps laid out in the blueprint.

  • Pick a product with a good price point, and lots of reviews
  • Find a keyword specific to the product that has a lot of search volume (over 1000 a month)
  • Tell people the benefits of the product
  • Give people a chance to see what other people think about it
  • Create a solid call to action
  • Build some links

That’s really all there is to it. Try to keep it simple, one step at a time and you can do it! But don’t get caught up in the fact that you don’t have a TON of traffic. A small stream of targeted traffic is much better than a river of random traffic.
